Syntensive Care IT Managed Service Plans
Our Syntensive Care IT Service Plans are designed to give you the critical technical support you need to maximize your network’s speed, performance, and stability, without the expense of a full-time IT staff.
Unlike other computer consultants who profit from the failures in your IT environment, our purpose is to PREVENT computer problems from escalating into unexpected downtime, data loss, interruptions in business, and financial loss. In fact, our Syntensive Care IT program does not allow us to profit from your technology troubles in any way.
The Benefits are Obvious:
- You’ll avoid expensive repairs and recovery costs. Our network monitoring and maintenance will save you money by preventing expensive network disasters from ever happening in the first place. As a matter of fact, we guarantee it.
- You’ll experience faster performance, fewer “glitches”, and practically zero downtime. Some parts of your system will degrade in performance over time, causing them to slow down, hang up, and crash. Our preventative maintenance and network monitoring will detect these problems early and prevent them from escalating into more expensive repairs and downtime.
- You’ll feel as though you have an in-house IT department without the costs. As a Managed Service customer, you’ll have access to a knowledgeable support staff that can be reached quickly should you have any kind of problem or question.
- You’ll receive substantial discounts on IT services that you are already buying. Most IT firms will nickel and dime you over every little thing they do: under this program, you’ll pay one flat, affordable rate and get all the technical support you need. No hidden charges, caveats, or disclaimers.
- You’ll eliminate trip fees and receive faster support response because remote monitoring will enable us to access and repair most network problems right from our office.
You’ll be able to budget for network support just like rent or insurance and avoid unexpected emergency costs.
- You’ll sleep easier knowing the “gremlins at the gate” are being watched and kept out of your network.
- You’ll safeguard your data. The data on the hard disk is always more important than the hardware that houses it. If you rely on computer systems for daily operations, it’s time to get serious about protecting your critical, irreplaceable electronic information.
- You’ll stop annoying spam, pop-ups, and spyware from taking over your computer and your network.
- You’ll gain incredible peace of mind. As a business owner, you already have enough to worry about. We’ll make sure everything pertaining to your network security and reliability is handled so you don’t have to worry about it.
Our 100% “You Can’t Lose” Guarantee…
We are so confident in our Syntensive Care IT Service Plan that we are willing to back it up with a powerful guarantee that no other IT firm or consultant would dare to make: We guarantee that we will be able to detect, diagnose, and PREVENT any type of network problem from escalating into downtime.
If by some odd chance your network goes down, if you get a virus, a hacker invasion, or any other problem that requires clean up and fixing, we will do all of the work necessary to restore your network back to full speed with no additional service fees to you.
FREE 27-Point Problem Prevention Audit Gets You Started
To introduce you to our new Syntensive Care Plan, we’d like to offer you a FREE 27-Point Problem Prevention Audit. At no charge, we will send a senior technician to your office and conduct a thorough assessment of your network. Upon completion, we will be able to:

- Outline a powerful and comprehensive line of defense against even the most evasive and deadly computer viruses, hackers, and spam for your specific network.
- Recommend ways to speed up your entire computer network while cutting costs on your Internet Service bill, e-mail, and possibly even your phone bill!
- Provide you a detailed written report in plain English that outlines where you are at high risk for viruses, downtime, or other problems, and how we can eliminate those risks with our Syntensive Care Network Service Plan.
Other Companies Have Paid Over $595 for This Same Audit,
But It’s Yours FREE Just for Saying “Maybe”
We’ve decided to give you this audit as a good natured “bribe” to take a look at our Syntensive Care IT Service Plan.
After the audit, we will quote you a fixed monthly rate for maintaining and monitoring your network to ensure zero problems, zero downtime, and zero disasters.

Virus Protection and Removal
Virus protection software is mandatory on all computers to prevent data disasters. That said, all virus software is not created equal.
We strongly recommend using a centrally managed anti-virus system for businesses with three or more PCs. There are several reasons that centrally managed software makes sense:
- Centrally managed software is easy to keep tabs on. We can look in one place and see the current status of all of your PCs. Plus if there is a virus infection we can fight it on all PCs simultaneously.
- We can establish rules that prevent anti-virus software from being disabled, either intentionally or inadvertently.
- The annual anti-virus subscription for each PC renews at the same time, preventing individual PCs from being without critical protection at any time.
- Centrally managed software is generally less expensive than purchasing individual copies of anti-virus software
Eset’s NOD32 Anti-Virus, our preferred anti-virus vendor, offers first class protection at a very reasonable price. Deep discounts are available for schools, government, and non-profit organizations.

Network Security
There are many dangers out there. Computer viruses and spyware are all around us, infecting email messages, computers, and files. Many are just nuisances (such as popping up excessive advertising when you're surfing the web), but some can be very damaging and erase years of information. Furniture, tools, and inventory can all be replaced by insurance after the disaster -- your company's critical data can only be replaced if you are diligent about security today, before something happens.
We look at network security from a few standpoints:
- Education. Educating the users about "safe computing" is our number one priority, because it is the most effective way to avoid problems. Just think how many billions of dollars could have been saved if employees had been trained to not open strange, virus-ridden email attachments.
- Virus Protection. The Melissa virus, Code Red, and other nasty viruses are out there, and nobody is immune. Every computer should have a recent anti-virus software program installed, and the virus definitions should be automatically updated regularly. The newest software will scan email as well, reducing the chance of evil attachments causing damage.
- Firewalls. Any connection to the Internet represents a potential opportunity for someone from the outside to try and "hack" into your network. Although no network security is completely secure against a dedicated hacker (remember, Yahoo, the CIA, and other huge web sites have been hacked!), we will set up a firewall and security arrangements which will minimize the risks and deter evildoers.
- Internal Security. Statistics show that your own employees are far more likely to create security problems than any outside intruder ever would. Secure servers, user permissions, activity logging, and minimizing data stored on individual computers are all ways to minimize this threat.
- Backups. It is of critical importance to back up your data regularly to prepare for any number of catastrophes. Fires, floods, hardware failure, human error, hackers, viruses -- they can all ruin your day (or your career) without backups. Accounting systems, product designs and drawings, customer mailing lists, payroll records, marketing plans and files. . . When was the last time you backed up?

Email and Internet Access
It's a rare situation these days when a company can exist entirely "off-line". With so much information being moved onto the World Wide Web and the billions of emails moving about daily, the Internet has become a major part of business life in the 21st century.
Providing Internet access to your staff is not particularly complicated or expensive. It really depends on how many employees you have and how much you intend to use the Internet. We'll help you figure out what options are available to you and get you set up.
Today's most common options are:
- DSL Service. DSL uses telephone wiring to connect to the Internet. The majority of DSL lines are sold by the local telephone company (typically Verizon, Covad, Speakeasy, or VoiceNet, depending on your location), and cost between $20 and $125 per month. Speeds can be very impressive, depending on the price. DSL generally doesn't work unless you are located within about three miles of your telephone company's central office.
- Cable Modem. Historically geared more towards residential customers, cable modem could be a great option if it's available in your building. Comcast is offering attractive new business plans. Service costs between $60 and $200 and it's available from one source -- the local cable company. Speeds are fine for smaller offices.
- ISDN. If you can't get DSL, ISDN is probably the next best thing. It works fine for very small offices (up to maybe 5-7 employees) and doesn't have the same distance limitations as DSL. Cost is between $65 and $150, depending on the amount of usage.
- T1 Line. A T1 line is a dedicated “pipe” between you and the Internet, and works best with larger offices. The problem is that it is significantly more expensive than any of the other options, but for many applications, it may be just what you need. The cost depends on the distance from your office to your Internet service provider, but expect monthly costs between $350 and $1,000.
- Dial-Up. Using a standard 56K modem and telephone line, a dial-up connection may be perfectly fine for many situations. Special equipment is available which can dial on demand from the network when someone wants to use the Internet. Speeds are slow, and are typically unacceptable even for small offices. Cost is around $60 per month combined between a dedicated telephone line and Internet access, so often a DSL line (if available) is a better bargain. Business lines usually are billed for usage, so you pay per minute for dial-up connections. Can get expensive quickly.

Online Automatic Data Backup
Few companies truly do a good job of backing up the data on their server and computers. There are plenty of ways to do it (tapes, CDs, DVDs, etc.), but they all require effort on someone's part to swap the tapes, check the backup logs, etc. There is a better way. The Online Automatic Data Backup service from Syngenius offers many benefits:
- Online backup is automatic. Once your online backup software is installed and your backup sets are set up, backups start automatically. Thereafter, you need do absolutely nothing. You never have to change disks, rotate tapes or label CDs. Studies show that the primary reason that people do not backup their data, is because of the hassle and the effort involved. Simply put, online backup takes the inconvenience out of backing up your data.
- Online backup is offsite. Perhaps the most important aspect of backing up is that your backups are stored in a different location from your data. After all, if you experience a fire or other disaster, or a theft, your backups are probably as worthless as your computer if they had been stored on top of or next to your computer. With online backup, your data is always stored safely, in not one, but two offsite locations, located miles apart from each other. You never have to take tapes or CDs offsite and put them in storage.
- Online backup is scalable. With online backup, you can never run out of storage space. As your data grows, your online storage account can grow with it automatically. There is no having to catalog endless CDs or changing tapes in the middle of a backup.
- Online backup allows you to easily retrieve data. How many days would you have to wait to get backup tapes back from storage in the event of a disaster? It could be days, even weeks before your data was recovered and your business was back in operation. Let's say you wanted to recover just one file. How many CDs would you have to search for to find the file that you are looking for? With online backup, you have access to all of your files 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Retrieve the file you need in just seconds. Have your business completely up and running after a system failure in just hours.
- Online backup saves you money. Do you know the only proper way to back up using tapes? You must change them often because tapes wear out. And you must rotate them using multiple sets. Want to automate the process? Buy a high priced tape changing robot. Even constantly having to buy CDs and DVDs will add up. With online backup, you save money. There are absolutely no installation costs and no equipment to buy. All you pay is one low monthly fee.
- Online backup lets you sleep easier. Some studies show that more than half of backups don’t actually work. They appear to be backing up but don't actually transmit any data. Or the storage devices failed or deteriorated while in storage. How sure can you be that your backups are really working? With other methods its hard but with online backup, you can be sure. At any time, you can view all of the files that you have backed up and you can restore them. Online backup provides you with the confidence of knowing that your backups are really there for when you need them.
Your online data is security encrypted at your site and transmitted on a nightly basis to our backup servers across your high-speed Internet connection. You will receive an email daily from the backup system telling you that your backup was successful or if errors were found. Online backup is secure (yes, it's HIPAA-compliant), convenient, fast, and inexpensive.

Secure Wireless Networking
Wireless networks are an exciting way to provide network connectivity to your office without the expense of running wires in your building. But for all of its benefits, wireless networking is not without its pitfalls:
- Security. Wireless systems use radio technology to broadcast your sensitive network data. It's imperative that proper precautions are in place to prevent unauthorized access to your financial data, client lists, and other confidential information.
- A, B, G or N? There are multiple standards out there for wireless networks. Each has its own speeds, radio frequencies, pros, and cons. Which to use? We'll figure it out for you.
- Interference. Wireless networking is very popular, and not everyone using it knows what they are doing. We often find poorly-configured wireless systems in office buildings interfere with our own customers' wireless networks. Sometimes the potential for interference outweighs the benefits of being wire-free. We'll help you decide what is best for your individual circumstances.

Network Design and Support
Networking the computers in your office is simple, inexpensive, and offers tremendous benefits, such as:
- Sharing Printers. Save money by buying just a couple of printers that everyone can share.
- File Sharing. Setting up a file server provides a central location for your company's critical data, which allows multiple people to use it, and makes back ups much easier and more reliable.
- Security can be set up to ensure that sensitive data is protected. A secured, locked-up network server is much safer than a desktop computer for storing sensitive data like payroll and accounting records. Any PC that can be physically touched can be compromised. Storing all of the data on a server takes the sensitive data off the desktop PCs.
- Internet Access. Networked computers can access the Internet and email. Email can be a great tool within your company, as well as when dealing with the outside world.
- Wireless. Do you have frequent visitors to your office? If so, having wireless Internet available may be a great idea. We can plan your wireless network to be both secure and convenient.
It's really a great time to build a network if you don't already have one. Wireless networks are available which operate on the same principles as cordless telephones. This eliminates unsightly wires and allows freedom of movement. Standard network cabling and cards are extremely affordable and can be set up quickly.
